Painting
When we bought our house seven years ago we hired a professional painter to paint the main sections because of the 19′ ceilings. We picked a warm tan color and gave him very clear instructions that we didn’t want it to look yellow. Of course he used a bright yellow as a primer (left over from another job?). The result was a muddy yellow color we have never liked. This year I decided I was over it and repainted it myself. I don’t look HGTV ready by any means. But it was a fun job and we are thrilled with how it turned out. (Side note – I do NOT recommend or suggest that you engage in any of this at home.)
Making progress!
Sitting down on the job.
That is some intense painting!
19 feet up and getting the job done!
I am more stable than it looks. However, Russ is pretty unhappy about the whole thing.
Do not stand on window sashes!
The grey is SOOO much better!
Upstairs almost before I started. You can see I have already done some edging.
Before I started. (You can see Nebby in the bottom right if you look closely)
You can’t tell in this picture but the upstairs walls are a slightly lighter color than the main part of the house.
That yellow HAS to go!
It’s only a 14′ ladder.
I don’t know why my head looks so weird in this picture.
I CAN reach it!
Yes there is a large ficus tree in the middle of our living room. We gave it a good trim before putting it back near the window.
I was able to change the battery in that clock too! It has been stopped for longer than I care to admit.
The view from the ladder through the house. The painting next to the Christmas tree is Russ’. It is called “Dollhouse”
