Avoid the Pressure to be Mediocre (video)

We hear these messages every day, sometimes subtly sometimes overtly: Never try something new - you might fail. Never be brave you might look stupid. Play it safe. Be average. Never stand out. Don't speak up, you'll be handed more work. If we listen to them they create pressure to be mediocre, less then average, one of the crowd. Don't let that happen to you.

I need to include here that there is more to the pageant story I tell in this video. The week after I won I was regularly called a "whore" at school because "there was no way someone so ugly could have won without sleeping with the judges."

That speaks directly to my point. I was brave, I decided not to be mediocre and I was punished for it by my peers. If that has happened or is happening to you, share your story in the comments (or email me privately). Telling it will help you and help others know they aren't alone.

As always, I wish you the MOST from your potential!
